      Wir haben Bekannte in dem Bereich Aberdeen, den es mit am Schlimmsten erwischt hat. Das ist riesengroßer Mist, zumal sie vor zwei Jahren am 08. Dezember schon einmal so etwas mitmachen mussten. Nur ist es dieses Mal noch um Längen schlimmer.

      "Xaver" sorgt für Chaos in Schottland

      Das Orkantief "Xaver" hat am Donnerstagmorgen Schottland erreicht und für Chaos gesorgt. In den Highlands im Norden Schottlands waren nach heftigem Wind und Regenfällen 20.000 Haushalte ohne Strom, wie örtliche Medien berichten. Zugverbindungen wurden gestrichen, zahlreiche Straßen und Brücken vorsichtshalber geschlossen.

      Neben der schottischen warnte auch die englische und die walisische Küstenwache, dass es im Verlauf des Donnerstags möglicherweise zu schweren Überflutungen kommen könnte. "Xaver" wird laut dem Deutschen Wetterdienst (DWD) für Orkanböen an den deutschen Küsten sorgen: Erwartet werden Windgeschwindigkeiten von bis zu 150 Stundenkilometern. Im Zuge des Orkans seien schwere Schäden an Gebäuden möglich, hieß es seitens des DWD. Bäume könnten entwurzelt werden und Dachziegel, Äste oder Gegenstände herabstürzen. Der Aufenthalt im Freien sollte generell vermieden, Fahrzeuge nach Möglichkeit in die Garage gestellt werden.

      Orkan "Xaver" trifft mit drei Sturmwellen aufs Festland

      Das Orkantief Xaver hat in Schottland einen Mann getötet und Stromausfälle verursacht. In Deutschland bereitet sich Hamburg auf Sturmwellen vor. Die Lufthansa wird dort alle Flüge streichen.

      Auf den britischen Inseln hat Xaver hat einen Fahrer nahe der schottischen Stadt Edinburgh getötet. Nach Angaben der Polizei wurde der Lastwagen des Mannes bei Sturmböen von bis zu 228 Stundenkilometer auf mehrere Wagen geschleudert. Zwei weitere Menschen wurden dabei verletzt.

      Bereits am Morgen hatte Xaver in Schottland 20.000 Menschen Stromausfälle beschert. Im Berufsverkehr herrschte am Morgen Chaos, die Polizei sprach von sehr schwierigen Bedingungen für Autofahrer. Brücken und Straßen sind geschlossen worden, Zugverbindungen wurden gestrichen. In Dänemark treffen die Behörden ähnliche Maßnahmen - der Zugverkehr soll dort ab dem Nachmittag schrittweise eingestellt werden.

      Auch in Deutschland hat die Lufthansa wegen des Orkantiefs alle Flüge in Hamburg abgesagt. Die deutsche Fluglinie teilte am Donnerstag mit, dass alle 17 Flüge in der Hansestadt ab 14 Uhr nicht mehr abheben werden. Der Flughafen Frankfurt erwartet dagegen keine größeren Auswirkungen auf den Flugplan. Eine Sprecherin sagte: "Wir müssen letztlich abwarten, wie sich das Wetter ab Mittag entwickelt."

      Großbritannien: Stürme und Hochwasser legen Verkehr lahm

      Heftige Stürme und Hochwasser führen in Teilen Großbritanniens zu Verkehrsproblemen. Mehrere wichtige Straßen im Südwesten Englands, in Wales und Schottland waren überflutet, Probleme in Zugverkehr gab es unter anderem auf der Route zum Flughafen London Gatwick.

      n zahlreichen Regionen galten Unwetter- und Hochwasserwarnungen, wie die britische Wetterbehörde Met Office mitteilte. Die Meteorologen forderten vor allem dazu auf, sich von der Küste fernzuhalten, da Lebensgefahr wegen hoher Wellen drohe. Auch in Nordirland galten Unwetterwarnungen.

      Stürmisches Winterwetter hatte in den vergangenen Tagen zahlreiche Überschwemmungen in mehreren Landesteilen ausgelöst. Zwei Menschen ertranken im Meer.
